Hours: 35 hours per week – shifts vary depending on programming activity as OPD operates 7 days a week – Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 11 PM and on Saturday and Sunday from 7 AM to 6 PM.
 
Purpose:

Reporting to the Manager, Program & Event Services, the Media Production Technician (MPT) is responsible for producing high quality audio visual presentations and capture of Osgoode Professional Development (OPD) programs. OPD is a revenue generating and cost recovery unit with webcasting and archive programs currently accounting for 20% of revenues. Produces live webcasts, archived video and audio files as well as other instructional media that are sold to working professionals in a very competitive and highly demanding market. Trains/coaches classroom operators and instructors to produce the highest quality experience. Ensures currency and keeps abreast of new production technologies and makes recommendations to management regarding new technology acquisition requirements to keep OPD at the forefront of web experience.
 
Education:
College diploma in computer science or media production or equivalent.
 
Experience:
2 years related experience in a media centre/production environment including delivery and set-up of audio/visual equipment. Experience with Tricaster and MediaSite is an asset.
 
Skills:
Familiarity with all types of audio/visual equipment including all video formats, large video projectors, film projectors, slide projectors, PA systems, multi channel audio mixers, laser discs, audio/video routers/switches, computers and computer software, dataphones and computer projection; and working accurately and effectively under pressure of high volume; exercising tact and diplomacy; dealing calmly and effectively with people; lifting and moving equipment; good eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity.
Competent in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. Familiarity with file hosting web services and webcasting software including Adobe Connect, MediaSite, as well as production and editing equipment/software.
Excellent organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to set priorities and meet strict deadlines; excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team and ability to exercise good judgment.
