The Assistant Dean, Students is the lead in establishing a one-
stop
centre for student engagement services for Engineering. This
position champions putting "Students' First" within the Faculty of
Engineering by providing oversight, developing strategies, providing
direction and guidance for all aspects of the student life cycle (from
prospective student to graduate) within the Faculty. As a member of
the senior management team at the Lassonde School of
Engineering (LSE) the Assistant Dean, Students' goal is to provide
quality service to students. It provides administrative services and
ensures that these services integrate with the corresponding policy,
decision-making and administrative bodies within the University.
This position reviews policies, sets operational goals, monitors
performance against goals and makes recommendations to the
Associate Dean, Academic on: revising/creating policy, improving
levels of service, streamlining processes, improving efficiency and,
implementing best practices as they relate to students. |

Education:
Graduate university degree (in engineering, science or technology
preferred). Higher education administration (an asset) or, equivalent
combination of education and experience in academic services and/or
student development (also in engineering, science or technology);
demonstrated knowledge of research related to academic advising and
student success. |

Experience:
Extensive experience in managing student services. Several years of
progressively responsible management experience, including setting
goals and objectives, coordination, planning and supervision in a
multifunctional environment, administrative experience, excellent
technological skills including database management, statistical
analysis. Experience in public relations/communications/publications
management. |
|
Skills:
Demonstrated leadership skills; planning experience including
setting
priorities, monitoring, and program evaluation; excellent
communication
skills including oral presentation and written; analytical experience
including interpreting statistical data; proven project management
and
organizational skills; database management; financial
management;
proven ability to work effectively in a multi-tasked environment under
high pressure and with high volumes; excellent interpersonal skills;
proficiency with various computer programs including: word
processing,
spreadsheet, presentation software; discretion, good judgment,
integrity, and initiative. |
