Purpose:
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A LIMITED TERM CONTRACT. Reporting to the Director Client Solutions and Services, the Project Manager (PM) provides guidance and coordination to large, multi-faceted projects. The PM is expected to provide professional project management and analytical expertise in support of all phases of a project, including oversight, coordination, implementation, execution, control and successful completion consistent with the organizational and business goals of the University.
 
Education:
Relevant University degree e.g., Business, Computer Science, Engineering Formal project management training. PMP designation (or similar accreditation) is preferred.
 
Experience:
Minimum 5 years related experience with a broad working knowledge of information technologies that provides a credible framework for the preparation and monitoring of IT related projects. Proven ability to oversee the overall development and implementation of large scale IT projects, including leading project teams both in a physical and virtual team environment. Sufficient knowledge in project management methodology, e.g., PMBOK, systems development lifecycle frameworks and quality assurance, e.g., systems and user acceptance testing techniques. Knowledge and understanding of ERP, CRM, e-business, open source and custom applications.
 
Skills:
Proven IT project management skills including: research; planning and organizational skills; budget preparation. Ability to work under pressure of high volume and expectation, while meeting multiple deadlines for multiple projects; strong service orientation coupled with an ability to recognize and assess the operational significance of a problem, control/mitigate the risk and set priorities accordingly. Exceptional analytical, evaluative and technical problem solving skills; excellent research, presentation and report writing skills. Strong ability and willingness to work effectively as a team leader and team member; must be able to collaborate and cooperate with team members, project sponsors, other stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and diplomacy; effective motivational and diplomatic skills appropriate to large and complex organizations. Ability to effectively navigate a professional and political climate; ability to maintain high level of confidentiality. Strong interpersonal skills; dealing calmly and effectively with people. Excellent oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with a wide range of contacts and to write effective documents, proposals, and reports.
Advanced computer skills in MS Project, Word and Excel and PM software application tools, e.g. Roadmap, Copper, etc. Ability and willingness to learn new systems, technologies and project management methods and tools.
