Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. The summer front desks operate May – August, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., 7 days per week. Undergraduate residence front desks operate during Fall/Winter terms, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday and the York U Apartment front desk operates year round, 8:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
 
Purpose:
Housing Services at the Keele campus operates four front desks to provide front-line services to students and guests of the university who live and stay in our on-campus residences. Under the direction of the Manager, Accommodation & Conference Services, the Front Desk Coordinator is responsible for the preparation and oversight of the summer front desk operations that annually serve up to 3,000 internal and external guests attending conferences, events, summer schools and sport camps. The Front Desk Coordinator has responsibility for training student staff for the summer front desk operations, and for the successful implementation of accommodation and conference service agreements which generate over $1.5M annually. The Front Desk Coordinator ensures a high customer service standard is maintained by front desk at all times. The Front Desk Coordinator, in conjunction with the Senior Manager, Housing Recruitment and Tenant Relations, also coordinates the scheduling and workflow of student staff who provide coverage for the Fall/Winter front desks that serve over 3,000 student residents and tenants.
 
Education:
Some Community College courses in business or hospitality.
 
Experience:
Minimum 2 years directly related work experience in a residential/hotel setting required, including 2 years concurrent lead hand experience. Experience working in a University environment preferred.
 
Skills:
Demonstrated intermediate computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, database/reservation software and email required. Demonstrated excellent skills in the following areas: lead hand, customer service, oral and written communication, organizational with a strong attention to details; interpersonal customer relations and problem-solving required. Basic accounting and cash handling skills. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities, handling high work volume and meeting deadlines.
