Purpose:
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A TEMPORARY CONTRACT. Receiving direction from the Director of Institutional Research and Analysis, the SAS Technical Advisor provides technical expertise and support to assist with university planning and decision making at all levels. Has primary responsibility for the technical aspects of enrolment reporting and assists in the development, implementation and analysis of all aspects of enrolment reporting processes. Has responsibility for data collection, analysis and report preparation from a wide variety of university systems for use in institutional planning. Plans, designs, and conducts various projects and studies, interprets the results and makes formal presentations.
 
Education:
University degree in a related discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Business, Administration, Mathematics).
 
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of related experience, preferably in a post- secondary institution. Understanding of university’s mission, goals and culture. Knowledge of all administrative information systems across the campus. Understanding of procedures, academic and non- academic policies, regulations and decision-making processes. Knowledge of government regulations and reporting requirements affecting post-secondary education. Privacy and freedom of information legislation, MTCU, other universities and associations (e.g. COU, OUAC), and SAS Institute.
 
Skills:
Excellent SAS, RDBMS and data analyst skills required. Extensive technical knowledge of most current version of SAS for both the UNIX and Windows environments. Advanced knowledge of accessing data from Oracle into SAS (INTRNET, MDDB, CONNECT, ACCESS). Extensive experience with ODS, creating ASP applications, PDF files and HTML. Proficiency with Oracle. Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Access, Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat. Advanced knowledge of pivot tables. Extensive experience with UNIX and UNIX based editing tools. Extensive experience delivering applications and data via the Internet. Knowledge of ESRI products would be an asset. Excellent planning and analytical skills required. Ongoing technical upgrading required. Professional development expected to understand new methodologies and analytical techniques.
