Purpose:
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A LIMITED TERM CONTRACT. The Program Administrator is responsible for assisting the Director of Educational Programming and the Project Manager with the implementation of the BHER project. The Program Administrator is responsible for coordination of the activities of the Project on a day-to-day basis with the Project Liaison, the Local Program Administrator and the on-demand staff. The Program Administrator will be responsible for administration of all the tasks and activities of the Project according to the Project’s Action Plan. In the performance of the duties related to the Project Liaison and the Local Program Administrator the Program Administrator will be required to travel to the Borderless Higher Education for Refugees (BHER) project site in the town of Dadaab, Kenya, to the Dadaab Refugee camp and to Nairobi for partner meetings approximately two to three times a year for approximately one to two weeks each trip.
 
Education:
Master’s degree in social sciences required; a graduate degree in international development, communications, education or some combination of the aforementioned is an asset.
 
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of professional working experience in the field of development assistance and/or educational programming in the area of project development and/or implementation and/or assessment, as well as monitoring and evaluation; work experience in the field of education, children and youth, migration, gender, vulnerable and marginalized groups or ethnic minorities and assisting mid- to large-size development projects or programs related to education, community mobilization or empowerment of marginalized and vulnerable individuals.
 
Skills:
Proven ability to write reports; fluency in both written and spoken English; ability to work under and deliver to deadline; manage constraints across multiple demands; proven ability to exercise good judgment, initiative, and maintain confidentiality. Negotiating and influencing skills; ability to communicate program concepts and objectives across diverse cultures.
Intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
