Purpose:
To provide professional Electrician Services to the York Community.
 
Knowledge:
Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and instruction books. Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Fire Code, Electrical Code and Ontario Building Code.
 
Education:
Current Ontario Ministry of Skills and Development Certificate of Qualifications as an Electrician (construction and maintenance Class 309A). Canadian Fire Alarm Association Certificate is required or equivalent certification acceptable to the Ontario Fire Marshal. Must hold a valid Ontario drivers licence (Class ”G”).
 
Experience:
5 years’ recent related experience, including some construction and maintenance experience. Experience in fire systems including installation, testing, verification, trouble shooting, alteration and maintenance of fire alarm and protection equipment and building life safety systems.
 
Skills:
Ability to lift heavy equipment (e.g. motors) and climb ladders and scaffolding. Good manual dexterity.

APPLICANTS FOR THIS POSITION MUST SATISFACTORILY COMPLETE AN ASSESSMENT PERTAINING TO KNOWLEDGE IN ELECTRICAL AND FIRE ALARM PRACTICES. POSSIBILITY OF RENEWAL OF CONTRACT PENDING FUNDING. APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THEIR CURRENT ONTARIO MINISTRY OF SKILLS AND DEVELOPMENT CERTIFICATE OF QUALIFICATIONS AS AN ELECTRICIAN (CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE CLASS 309A) AND CANADIAN FIRE ALARM ASSOCIATION CERTIFICATE OR EQUIVALENT CERTIFICATION ACCEPTABLE TO THE ONTARIO FIRE MARSHAL WITH THEIR APPLICATION PACKAGE.
