Purpose:
The Executive Director, through his/her own work and through his/her direction of the Information Services & Technology (I.S.& T) Unit, creates and sustains the information services environment to be utilized by the Schulich School of Business academic and administrative operations including the Schulich Executive Education Centre, Executive Learning Centre, (including guest rooms and restaurant management), Miles S. Nadal Management Centre, GMR Campus (Hyderabad, India), Executive MBA Program, Development and Alumni Relations, Student Services and International Relations and Career Development Centre. He/she will assure both a secure and robust hardware/software environment appropriate to the School’s requirements and will actively facilitate and support the integration of information services applications for both academic and administrative activities. The effectiveness of the I.S. & T Unit will be assessed on the extent to which user (i.e., faculty, staff, student, and external stakeholder) requirements are met. Priorities among user requirements will be set based on direction from the Dean and/or the Information Services and Technology Steering Committee. The Executive Director’s mandate is to be proactive in all dimensions of information services and technology and ensuring that the Unit is seen as an active facilitator of various applications.
 
Education:
A Masters level degree in an appropriate field would be strongly desirable.
 
Experience:
Successful senior level executive leadership experience in a leadership role for information systems (IS/IT); Strategic thinker/planner able to advise on where IS will be in three years and which path the School should follow. Well-rounded business acumen with strong service ethics. Experience in a Lotus Notes environment. Experience in developing and maintaining successful partnerships and alliances and a successful manager of a multi-faceted development team. Experience managing in a unionized environment highly desirable.
 
Skills:
Skills (Specialized knowledge): Experience in microcomputer/workstation hardware and software support, including supervision and project management in an Active Directory/SCCM/ITIL environment. Applications: MS-Office, electronic mail and calendaring applications, Lotus Notes. Advanced knowledge of Lotus Notes (min. Version 8 with Domino), including Web/mobile and database development for educational applications (PHP, .NET, Domino/XPages, jQuery). Other database development environments (e.g. Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL). Advanced knowledge of Internet, mobile and multi-media applications, including social networking tools. Real-time and asynchronous collaboration, content and learning management systems (Moodle 2.x, Starleaf tele-presence, DyKnow Vision etc). Experience implementing and supporting complex CRM solutions. Experience with integration of cloud and on premise systems (SIS, Symplicity, Hobson’s CRM etc) leveraging web services, APIs and Identity Management solutions (Forefront, CAS/Shibboleth, AD, SAML2.0).
