Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Will also be required to attend events outside of these regular office hours.
 
Purpose:
Under the direction of the Manager, Events & Ceremonials, the Senior Planner leads the development, coordination and implementation of all pan-University ceremonies, institutional, advancement and alumni events at both Keele and Glendon campuses. Ceremonies include but are not limited to convocations, installations of Presidents and Chancellors, Remembrance Day, building openings, building namings and ground breakings. The Senior Planner provides event planning support and expertise to faculty-based donor relation events on a case by case basis. This position engages the growing communities of staff, students, faculty, donors and alumni to foster and facilitate engagement and support, financially and otherwise, for the University.
 
Education:
An undergraduate degree in Theatre, Business. Communications, Humanities, Marketing, Social Sciences or Visual Art. Equivalent education and experience includes college diploma in Event Management, Public Relations or Hospitality plus 1 year practical related experience in addition to the minimum years of work experience required. Knowledgeable and aware of current and future trends related to convocation, university policies and protocols and of fundraising professional standards and ethics.
 
Experience:
Four (4) years' experience in the planning and implementation of large scale events (1000+ attendees) are essential, including:
2 years in a lead role executing convocation.
2 years stage and production management.
Staff oversight.

Excellent organization and project management abilities to coordinate, plan and schedule multiple complex projects and budgets at the same time.

Demonstrated computer skills including:
Intermediate Word processing (MS Word).
Intermediate Spreadsheets (MS Excel).
Intermediate Presentation software (MS PowerPoint).
Basic / Introductory Databases (MS Access).
Knowledge of event-management software.
