Duration: Temporary Full-Time
Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm – Monday to Thursday (28 hours per week)
Position Start Date: July 1, 2013   Position End Date: April 30, 2014
 
Purpose:
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A TEMPORARY CONTRACT. The Project Administrator is accountable and receives direction on day-to-day work from the Principal Investigator, Envisioning Global LGBT Human Rights, and provides administrative support and financial administration of the research project ensuring compliance with university and external funding agencies’ requirements and guidelines.
 
Education:
Completion of a college diploma is required to develop a good understanding of office administration, finance and accounting. Completion of a university degree an asset.
 
Experience:
6 months relevant work experience to include experience administering project budgets, accounting, monitoring and reconciling expenses based on financial guidelines and policies. Related experience is required in an academic or related research focused unit and involving working with a large international research team. York experience is an asset. Experience working with small community based NGOs in Canada and in the global south and working with LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community based organizations is also required.
 
Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with others. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Strong budgeting and bookkeeping skills. Ability to work successfully with a wide range of stakeholders including researchers, students, staff, and community groups. Ability to coordinate project and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Intermediate skills in MS-Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint). Knowledge of social media and basic web management skill will be considered an additional asset.
