The Student Recruitment Officer (SRO) plays an important role in Glendon Campus recruitment activities. In a team environment, the SRO specializes in student recruitment, partnerships with schools, and post-secondary community relations for one or more of the following areas: francophone markets, international recruitment, and on-campus recruitment. Front-line recruitment is focused on the development and delivery of presentations in secondary schools, at fairs, and other special events as well as on campus. The SRO also extensively counsels and advises prospective students, families, and educators on admissions and recruitment-related issues by phone, email, in-person and online. The purpose of these activities is to attract qualified applicants to our bilingual, liberal arts campus and to enhance Glendon's role as the Centre of Excellence for Francophone & Bilingual Post-secondary Studies.
 
Education:
College diploma required.
 
Experience:
Minimum 1-2 years of recent related experience (e.g. liaison, public relations, customer services, marketing, student advising/counselling etc.), including making effective presentations, preferably in an educational environment.
 
Skills:
Knowledge of the Ontario and Canadian university systems, admissions criteria, and university programs; knowledge of Canadian culture and identity as well as the Canadian francophonie (history, culture, languages, etc.); previous interaction with secondary school aged students, counsellors, or teachers; demonstrated skill/ability in the following areas; public speaking and/or making effective presentations in French and English; effective interpersonal and public relations skills; working effectively in a team environment; working independently and setting priorities; dealing courteously and effectively with people; cross-cultural communications; international travel; exercising good judgment and initiative; tact and diplomacy essential; attending accurately to detail; analyzing, interpreting and presenting detailed information clearly; working effectively under pressure of time constraints; general advising or counselling skills; excellent organizational skills; maintaining confidentiality; lifting and bending; valid “G” driver’s license, with proven good driving record; willingness to travel; Bilingual Modules I (advanced), III (Intermediate), IV (Advanced).
