Purpose:
YUELI is a revenue-generating unit that provides non-credit English courses to non-York ESL students. Data management is a vital aspect of YUELI's operations, and YUELI's unique operational needs necessitate custom database solutions and on-site data management. As providers of the first layer of services for incoming international students, YUELI handles a large volume of registration and financial data which is outside the purview of York Admissions. It is essential that this information be organised effectively, because management decisions of the highest order are frequently based on interpretation of data resources. The position provides support with the development, maintenance, update and implementation of YUELI's database system according to operational needs; and oversees conceptualization and development of technical infrastructure to deliver e-learning content to YUELI students. The incumbent reports directly to the Financial Officer and with this position, YUELI intends to consolidate responsibility for information services and provide attentive, on-site coordination of data resources.
 
Education:
Completion of an Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field such as Information Technology, Mathematics or Physics; or equivalent such as Diploma in the fields indicated plus 1 year practical related work experience in addition to the minimum years of experience required.
 
Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in IT, Website production and maintenance, Database development and administration, Experience with e-learning technologies and Moodle 2.0. Experience with international non-native English speaker students is an asset.
 
Skills:
Proficiency and familiarity with a wide cross-section of computer hardware, operating systems, and software; Advanced proficiency with MS Access, Excel, SQL (and related administration tools) PHP, ASP JavaScript, AJAX, HTML, XML. Moodle development, configuration and administration. Ability to program, configure, oversee and maintain the operation of complex relational databases. Hands-on knowledge with e-learning development, design, training methodologies and online education. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines.
