Purpose:
Under the direction of the Associate Director, Administration for HR Services – Campus Services and Business Operations (CSBO), the Human Resources Business Partner supports the CSBO organization in the provision of a wide range of operational, generalist Human Resources responsibilities. Act as a resource to central Human Resources in the development and implementation of University Human Resources programs, policies and procedures ensuring that both University and departmental requirements are achieved. The CSBO organization is comprised of 11 functional units (Security Services; Housing Services; YU-card, Food Services & Parking Services; Bookstores, Printing & Mailing Services; Maintenance, Custodial, Grounds & Glendon Facilities Services; Facilities Development; Planning & Renovations; Energy Management; Environmental Design & Sustainability; Financial Services) with over 800 employees under 7 different employee affiliations (CPM, YUSA1, YUSA2, CUPE 1356, CUPE 1356-1, CUPE 1356-2, IUOE).
 
Education:
University degree in Human Resources or Business Management or equivalent required. Human Resources training/certification preferred. Conflict resolution training/certification is an asset.
 
Experience:
Minimum of 4 years generalist human resources experience in a unionized environment (including experience working with business leaders in a consultative capacity). Experience administering and interpreting collective bargaining agreements required. Experience in continuous process improvement initiatives and process documentation an asset. Experience in a University environment preferred.

Strong business acumen, relationship building skills ; Effective coaching, influencing, facilitation, conflict resolution and relationship management skills; Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills; Excellent time management and organization skills; Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills; Solid understanding of applicable employment and human rights legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and the Human Rights Code). Thorough knowledge of human resources theory and related practice (e.g. job design and evaluation, recruitment and selection, labour and/or industrial relations, training and development, job evaluation and compensation and benefits. Ability to work flexible schedule to provide support to a 24/7/365 organization. Knowledge of basic business mathematics and statistics. Ability to review and synthesize information accurately and quickly. Ability to comprehend, evaluate, analyze and respond appropriately to problems and situations under pressure of time and limited resources. Proficiency with standard office computer and software (e.g. MS-Office, particularly Excel and Word; email, internet browsers. Visio an asset.) . Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.
