Purpose:
Accountable to the Assistant Manager, Learning Technologies, the Instructional Designer provides pedagogical and instructional support and services to all faculty, graduate students, researchers, and staff wishing to effectively integrate instructional design into their teaching, learning, research and administrative milieu. The Instructional Designer provides strategic planning, direction and leadership for effective learning and participates in design, development, delivery and assessments of course material.
 
Education:
University degree in Instructional Design, Education or related subject field.
 
Experience:
7 years of recent and relevant instructional design experience and learning technology support experience; including designing and developing learning solutions in a range of delivery formats. Experience providing instructional design advisory services in an academic environment. Needs assessment experience to recommend effective learning solutions. Ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of the organization. Strong presentation and training skills. Project management experience and a commitment to meeting and exceeding project expectations using formal project management methodologies and appropriate tools. Proven results-orientation. A commitment to excellent and high-quality work. The ability to work accurately under tight and multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously. Excellent written communication skills. Excellent analytical and evaluative skills. Staff training and oversight of others work experience considered an asset.
 
Skills:
Advanced LMS experience (Moodle would be an asset). Proven experience using collaboration tools, ePortfolios, blogs, Turnitin, personal response systems and web conferencing software. Experience using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and screen recording tools. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
