Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm; Tuesday 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
Position Start Date: February 3, 2014   Position End Date: March 7, 2015
 
Purpose:
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A LIMITED TERM CONTRACT. This position is responsible for the effective coordination of Field placements in the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program. The Assistant Field Education Coordinator ensures that students are appropriately placed in field education sites, liaises with host agencies and field instructors, and ensures compliance with all protocols, including governmental, accreditation and University legislative requirements. The Assistant Field Education Coordinator fulfills these roles under the supervision of the Field Education Manager.
 
Education:
University degree Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent is required.
 
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of social work practice experience. Experience as a field instructor would be an asset.
 
Skills:
Working knowledge of the following software packages: MS Word (intermediate level); MS Excel (intermediate level); MS Access (intermediate level); Windows; and E-mail software (e.g. Lotus Notes). Experience working with on-line student records system (SIS). Ability to use the internet. Valid Ontario Driver’s record, in good standing. Access to personal own automobile. Typing 40-45 wpm, accuracy essential, minute taking and word processing skills required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently with an ability to exercise significant professional judgment in situations requiring consultation with others. Able to deal courteously and effectively with staff, students, and faculty. Ability to obtain and provide information in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrated good judgment and initiative. Demonstrated effectiveness in attending to details. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use tact and diplomacy appropriately. Demonstrated interest in working with diverse cultural groups. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a team. Demonstrated experience in working and effectively handling a high volume work environment, including demonstrated ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines; punctuality and reliability.
