The new school for Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE) is a revenue-generating professional education enterprise designed to serve adult learners in the GTA, nationally and internationally. The school is expected to generate revenue for York University in order to meet the enrolment targets outlined in the Strategic Mandate Agreement with the provincial government. Upon launch in fall 2014, the new school will be the third largest of its kind in Canada. This new position will provide overall management and leadership to the development and management of the continuing professional education portfolio within CAPE. This includes responsibility for relationship building, human resource management, finances, marketing, market research, program development and delivery, and strategic and business planning. All credit programs require a close working relationship with York’s Faculties related to academic quality and oversight. To start, the portfolio consists of two Program Managers and two Program Assistants, and approximately $2.2M in revenue from non-credit programs and corporate training. By fall 2015, credit certificate programs and the administration of online degree programs will be added to the portfolio. The Director is accountable for identifying, developing and managing a program portfolio that will drive annual revenue and enrolment growth. The Director is responsible for managing a large, complex portfolio of credit and non-credit continuing education programs in different formats (in-class, online and blended). S/he will provide strategic planning, direction and oversight of the quality and execution of programs. The Director will respond to student complaints and academic appeals for credit programs taught by continuing education instructors. The Director is a senior member of the CAPE management team and works closely with CAPE staff, faculty and staff in other departments, and external employers, groups and partners.
