Purpose:
With significant national and international competition in the business school market and sophistication of marketing in higher education, the Schulich School of Business’ goals, brand and reputation objectives are to continue to build brand awareness and enhance the School’s image and profile regionally, nationally and internationally as a leader among the top business schools worldwide. Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Design and Production Coordinator plays a central role in contributing to the development and implementation, maintenance and enhancements of the Schulich School of Business’ marketing communications, promotions and advertising plans. Central to this role is design, development, maintenance (including integrating and troubleshooting) of the websites (incorporating updated communications and marketing strategies); production work involving design and production of all electronic media items such as e-brochures, banners, and call backs, signage, posters, invitations and other materials as required; video production (organizing/scheduling video shoots, filming, editing and downloading the videos to the websites and various social media platforms, e.g. Face Book, You Tube, LinkedIn, Tumbler, Yammer, Twitter, Blogs, among others); photography at School events and for marketing materials, including student, alumni, faculty and/or staff highlights. The position supports the School’s strategic communications plans and programs with expertise in web and new media communications including development of e-chats, e-invitations, news flashes, email campaigns, and other new and emerging social media tools geared to a variety of audiences.
 
Education:
Recent University degree in either Communications, Marketing, Journalism or English, with an emphasis on written communications.
 
Experience:
Two years’ directly related work experience in marketing communications, both developing and coordinating collateral for visual representation and e-information purposes, in a large organization; practical experience with web site and social media platforms’ navigation and development, content management, graphic/visual design, corporate audio/video production, marketing and/or communications, social media and online advertising and analytics, plus dealing courteously and effectively with the public within a service oriented environment.
 
Skills:
Demonstrated advanced writing skills with commensurate proof-reading and editing skills, with ability to write to diverse audiences; Advanced skills in web design and technology including knowledge of major web programming languages e.g. HTML 5.0 to produce standards compliant web pages, graphics, email promotions and events, social media content and other media files; Advanced skills in desktop design software including Adobe Creative Suite 6/Creative Cloud 6, (e.g. lnDesign, Premiere, DreamWeaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, PageMaker 7, Acrobat CD 9-11 and Flash, among others); QuarkXpress 10.; social media platform communications tools , Word Press 4.4, among others, to produce e-publications and e-print materials; Advanced skills in audio and video editing software, e.g. Adobe Premiere to produce website pages, email campaigns, social media content and other media files; Advanced skills in scripting languages (e.g. JavaScript) to produce website pages, email campaigns, social media content and other media files; Proven skills with all social media platforms, discussion forums, wikis, blogs and Search Engine Optimization to enhance and promote website pages, email campaigns, social media content and other media files, including any digital media; Proven skills in the use of photographic equipment; digital photography, audio and video, and scanning of photographic images, and importing those files into digital artwork to produce print materials, website pages, email blasts, social media content and other media files; Advanced skills in the MS-Office Suite of applications including: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, among others, plus advanced e-mail and the internet skills especially for research, communications, information transmission and presentations to internal clients and external partners; Online data entry skills to maintain databases of faculty profiles and mailing lists of prospective professional/continuing education clients, and alumni; Excellent organizational and project management skills including the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, co-ordinate a number of projects simultaneously in response to changing or conflicting priorities; Attending accurately to details and working effectively under pressure of high volume under competing time demands because of multiple, overlapping projects; Working effectively in a team environment while also being highly self-directed; Exercising high levels of tact and diplomacy required, as well as the ability to deal courteously and effectively with clients and colleagues to obtain information and provide communications services Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality required.
