Purpose:
The Division of Advancementís mission is to inspire and cultivate meaningful engagement and philanthropic support to advance York Universityís excellence in education, research and community service. Under the direction of the Associate Director, University Events & Ceremonies, the Events & Communications Coordinator (ECC) supports this mission by providing events and communications support for University events and Ceremonies team. The Events & Communications Coordinator facilitates the integration of events, communication and marketing initiatives that encourages and enhances stakeholder relations, fosters growing levels of engagement and support for the University. This includes acting as a resource to University events, coordinating communications and marketing initiatives.
 
Education:
Diploma in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, Digital Communications, Visual Art, Event Management, Public Relations or Hospitality. Knowledge of fundraising professional standards and ethics.
 
Experience:
Three (3) years in the Communication field including: Writing and producing digital and print communications pieces such as formal invitations and event programs; Project Management; Event coordination; Producing multimedia communications (photographs); Developing work-back schedules and critical paths; Making recommendations on scope of work and resources needed; Recruitment and coordination of students and volunteers.
 
Skills:
Demonstrated skills including: Ability to write, edit and proofread at an advanced level in the English language; Impeccable accuracy in grammar, spelling and content verification; Excellent oral communication skills; Ability to write and edit a broad range of communications; Tact, courtesy and discretion essential; Basic videography skills and ability to use digital SLR camera; Ability to work effectively under pressure of high volume and daily deadlines; Ability to handle diverse communications assignments; Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment; Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
Demonstrated computer skills including: Advanced desktop publishing (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign); Advanced photo editing (Adobe Photoshop); Advanced web design (HTML, CSS, Wordpress); Advanced word processing (MS Word); Advanced presentation software (MS PowerPoint); Advanced e-mail service provides (Exact Target); Intermediate spreadsheets (MS Excel); Intermediate Project management software (Asana); Advanced database management (MS Access).
