PLEASE NOTE: This is a limited term contract.The York Circle and Alumni Programs Planner is responsible for a range of activities to engage alumni and other members of the York community in the life of the University in meaningful ways. Under the direction of the Manager, Alumni Engagement, the incumbent works with the Manager to plan, develop and coordinate a number of engagement programs within the Division of Advancement. These programs are designed to build mutually-beneficial relationships between York University, its alumni community and the broader York community. One of the key responsibilities for the incumbent is the coordination of The York Circle, a program that provides lifelong learning and educational opportunities for a wide range of members of the York community, specifically alumni, parents, and friends of the University.
Relevant university degree. For example Education, Business, Marketing, Humanities, Social Sciences.
1-2 years recent related experience with an emphasis in adult education, volunteer coordination, and event and program planning/budgeting. Experience in a University environment an asset. Experience in volunteer communications and familiarity with Alumni Relations an asset.
DEMONSTRATED SKILLS INCLUDING: Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to coordinate, plan and schedule multiple projects at the same time. Budgeting skills. Initiative and creativity Tact, courtesy and discretion essential. Ability to multitask; work independently or as an effective member of a team Exercise good judgement and possess an eye for detail. DEMONSTRATED COMPUTER SKILLS INCLUDING: Intermediate Word processing (MS Word) and intermediate spreadsheets (MS Excel). Familiarity with Lotus Notes and BSR Advance an asset. Familiarity with social media tools/channels.
