| Purpose: PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A TEMPORARY CONTRACT. Communications & Public Affairs (C&PA) is responsible for enhancing and protecting York University's brand and reputation. The Division provides strategic advice and counsel to York senior management; develops and implements internal and external communication plans; manages media and public relations, strategic brand marketing and institutional advertising; and develops and maintains strong working relationships with key constituency groups. C&PA includes the following units: Strategic Communications, Media Relations, Marketing and Creative Services and Strategic Initiatives and Administration. Reporting to the Marketing Manager and under the functional guidance of the Sr. Graphic Designers (team leads), the Graphic Designer is responsible for ensuring the creative development and refinement of graphic design projects while maintaining the visual identity of the University. |

| Education: College diploma in Communications/Graphic Design or equivalent combination of formal training and experience such as completion of some post-secondary courses in Communications/Graphic Design plus 1 year related practical work experience. |

| Experience: 2 years relevant work experience in a professional design studio performing design/layout and other related functions. |

| Skills: Demonstrated skill/experience in the following areas: SOFTWARE: Intermediate technical skills utilizing: QuarkXpress 6.0 or higher; Adobe Creative Suites 3.0 including Photoshop and Illustrator at an intermediate level. MAC OSx 10, Microsoft Office Suite including Word (Intermediate level), Excel (Introductory level) and Powerpoint (Intermediate level). Excellent analytical, interpretive and conceptual skills. Meticulous attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure of high volume and changing production deadlines. |
