|Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Will also be required to attend events outside of these regular office hours.|
PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE TWO POSITIONS
Reporting to the Manager, Events and Ceremonials, the Events and Ceremonials Assistant provides support to the Senior Events Planner and the Senior Ceremonials and Events Operations Planner. The incumbent assists with the coordination and implementation of all events (to include institutional) and ceremonies within the University and the Division of Advancement to engage the University's growing community of alumni and donors, fostering a growing level of alumni and donor engagement with, and support for the University.
College diploma in event management, public relations, or hospitality or any related field in event management. Knowledge of fundraising professional standards and ethics an asset. York University degree an asset.
One (1) year experience in assisting with event planning and coordination. Experience working on large scale events and in a university environment an asset. Travel to offsite events is expected.
Demonstrated skills including:
Strong oral communication skills, Excellent organization abilities, with superior attention to details, Tact, discretion and courtesy essential, even in times of challenging and conflicting demands, Working effectively under pressure of high volume and meeting daily deadlines, Exercising good judgment, Balancing the competing demands of day-to-day work and frequent interruptions.
Demonstrated computer skills including:
Introductory / Basic Word processing (MS Word), Introductory / Basic Spreadsheets (MS Excel), Introductory / Basic Presentation software (MS PowerPoint), Introductory / Basic Databases (MS Excel, MS Access), Knowledge of event-management software an asset.
