The School of Kinesiology and Health Science, York University, invites applications for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Physical Culture, Policy, and Sustainable Development at the Assistant Professor level, to commence July 1, 2020. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidates must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in scholarly research and in teaching. We seek a candidate with expertise in the critical socio-cultural study of physical culture, policy and sustainable development as it relates to the environment. Expertise in policy (e.g., analysis, development and/or implementation) is required. The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching and service. The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and/or technology-enhanced learning is preferred. Evidence of research and/or policy relationships, or promise of ability to build relationships, with public, private and/or third sector organizations in such areas as physical culture and/or the environment and/or sustainable development is considered an asset.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Kinesiology or a relevant discipline (e.g., Physical Education, Environmental Studies, Sustainability Studies, Sociology, Geography, International Development Studies, Political Science, Indigenous Studies, Women/Gender Studies, etc.) so long as their expertise is focused on physical culture and the environment. Post-doctoral experience will be considered an asset.
