The School of Nursing, Faculty of Health, York University invites applications for a teaching stream tenure-track position in Child and Adolescent Health in the Context of Primary Health Care at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream to commence July 1, 2020. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses and to provide creative educational leadership in enhancing teaching and learning through curricular and pedagogical innovation in the classroom and capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to teaching and learning. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidates must (1) be registered in good standing or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario; (2) hold a Bachelor’s degree in nursing; (3) possess a Master’s degree in a relevant area (Master’s in Nursing preferred); and (4) a PhD in Nursing or a related field is required with consideration given to candidates who are currently enrolled in an appropriate doctoral program or whose educational background suggests eligibility for admission to an appropriate doctoral program.

Candidates must have recent clinical experience (within the last five years), teaching experience with expertise in child and adolescent health in a primary care context including normal growth and development, common health issues and nursing care with emphasis on the social determinants of health, and upstream evidence-informed nursing approaches to enhance health and wellbeing. Additional recent evidence-informed clinical experience and expertise in subspecialties within child and adolescent health such as maternal, newborn, child health, paediatrics, mental health, and/or global health would be an asset.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence or potential for excellence in teaching university-level courses and a commitment to pedagogy and student success. A record of innovation in areas such as experiential education, technology enhanced learning and community-based learning is preferred as is experience with curriculum development and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment. The successful candidate is also expected to provide evidence of service contributions or potential to contribute to service in administrative and committee work. Candidates must demonstrate alignment with the School of Nursing’s commitment to human science, social justice, and health promotion and to multiple perspectives in nursing discourses, knowledge, and research.
