The Faculty of Education invites applications for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Mathematics Education at the Assistant Professor level, to commence July 1, 2020. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval. Aligned with the priorities of Faculty of Education’s Strategic Plan ( http://edu.yorku.ca/files/2017/08/EDU-StrategicPlan2017.pdf ), the successful applicant will contribute fully and broadly to mathematics education within the faculty, including the Bachelor of Education and the Graduate Diploma in Mathematics Education.
A Ph.D. by the start of the appointment in Mathematics Education or a related field, and expertise in K-12 education and teacher education in the area of mathematics education, as well as knowledge of mathematics content and pedagogy as reflected in the Ontario curriculum, are required for the position. Candidates must show excellence or promise of excellence in scholarly research and publication, teaching and service.
Applicants should have an ongoing program of research and specialize in areas such as: the teaching and learning of mathematics; mathematics in the elementary years; social justice and equity in mathematics; and mathematics teacher education. The successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred.
