The School of Social Work, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University, invites applications for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Social Work at the rank of Assistant Professor in the areas of critical social work; policy and social change; global justice; and/or critical disability. The appointment will commence July 1, 2020. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

Candidates must have a BSW or MSW degree, and a PhD (or near completion) in Social Work or a related discipline. Substantial practice experience in social work, social policy, and/or community engagement is required (recent experience is preferred), as is experience working with diverse and marginalized populations. The School is seeking candidates to teach BSW- and MSW-level core courses from a critical perspective. The School of Social Work is committed to educating social workers in practices that further the goal of social justice. The successful candidate will demonstrate a substantive analysis of systemic oppression, and engagement with the mission statement of the School in their teaching and scholarship. The successful applicant must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in scholarly research, teaching, and service and must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred.
