Professorial Stream Appointments

The School of Nursing, Faculty of Health, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Primary Health Care Across the Lifespan at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, to commence January 1, 2022. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

Candidates must (1) be registered as a Registered Nurse (Extended Class) in good standing or eligible for registration (Extended Class) with the College of Nurses of Ontario; hold current registration and qualifications as a Nurse Practitioner in Ontario (2) have a baccalaureate degree in Nursing; (3) have a Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field (Nursing preferred), and (4) have a PhD or PhD near completion at the time of the appointment in Nursing or other relevant area (Nursing preferred).

The successful candidate should have experience with health for persons and communities with respect to acute and chronic disease, attention to the social determinants of health, and improving access to quality care for people with a history of marginalization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in coordinating the MScN-PHCNP program and teach clinically-focused courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The faculty member may have the opportunity to play a leadership role in the nine-university Ontario Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner consortium program, such as in teaching or program management at York, and/or in course development at the broader provincial level.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in outstanding, innovative, and, as appropriate, externally funded research at the highest level. Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence or promise of research excellence of a recognized international calibre as demonstrated in: the research statement; a record of publications (or forthcoming publications) with significant journals in the field; presentations at major conferences; awards and accolades; and strong recommendations from referees of high standing.

The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching and the successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching will be provided through: the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations including in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference.
