Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA):
Community Nursing

The School of Nursing, Faculty of Health, York University invites highly qualified applicants for a one-year Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA) in Community Nursing at the rank of Sessional Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, to commence September 1, 2022. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

Candidates must (1) be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing or eligible for RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario; and (2) have a Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field (Nursing preferred). Individuals with a PhD in progress or PhD in Nursing or related field are preferred.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in applying the principles and practice standards of community health nursing to educate students about the knowledge and skills needed for the diverse roles community nurses engage in to provide health care for individuals, families, and communities. The candidate should incorporate social justice, health equity, and advocacy in their teaching of strategies for health promotion and disease prevention. An understanding of community nurses’ roles in diverse settings (e.g., shelters, correctional facilities, public health programs) for health teaching; developing, implementing, and evaluating community-based interventions; and policy development is an asset. Evidence of potential to contribute to service in administrative and committee work is an asset.
