The Department of Economics, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Econometrics at the Assistant level, to commence July 1, 2023. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

A PhD (or a PhD near completion) in Economics is required, with a demonstrated record of excellence, or promise of excellence, in research and in teaching. We are particularly interested in candidates specializing in theoretical econometrics. Applicants should have a clearly articulated program of research in any area of theoretical econometrics. The successful candidate’s research program will contribute to our research strengths and reputation, with the expectation for national and international research leadership.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in outstanding, innovative, and, as appropriate, externally funded research in Economics at the highest level. Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence or promise of research excellence as demonstrated by an innovative job market paper; the research statement; a record of publications (or forthcoming publications) in highly ranked general interest and field journals in Economics, and presentations at major conferences appropriate to their stage of career, as well as strong recommendations from referees of high standing.

The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching and the successful candidate must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching will be provided through: the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations including in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference.
