The School of Administrative Studies, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a teaching stream tenure-track appointment in Finance at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, to commence July 1, 2023. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and develop courses in financial management, including corporate finance, international financial management, corporate financial planning and/or ratio analysis, at the undergraduate level, and will also be expected to teach and develop graduate finance courses at the new Markham Campus when it opens. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

A PhD in finance or a closely related discipline like economics or decision analysis/management science is required. The successful candidate with a PhD in a related discipline will also have completed a graduate degree in finance. A professional certification (CFA, CPA) is preferred. In addition, the successful candidate will have at least 3 years of full- or part-time teaching experience at the university 3rd/4th year and/or Masters levels in the broad area of financial management. At least 3 years of full-time professional experience outside academia is preferred.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university 3rd/4th year level in the area of financial management through: the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations in high priority areas such as experiential education, synchronous online learning, technology enhanced learning and community or group-based learning; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success, the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to teaching, learning and program design, and demonstrate good judgment and a reflective approach to innovation in teaching. Experience with curriculum development and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment is preferred. In addition, the successful candidate will have evidence of their ability to teach and communicate research effectively. The successful candidate is also expected to provide evidence of service contributions or potential to contribute to service in administrative and committee work.
