Rehabilitation and Human Muscle Performance, School of Kinesiology and Health Science, Faculty of Health, York University

The School of Kinesiology and Health Science, Faculty of Health, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Rehabilitation and Human Muscle Performance at the Assistant Professor level, to commence July 1, 2023. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

A PhD in Kinesiology, Rehabilitation, or a related discipline, with a focus on Athletic Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and/or Physiotherapy, is required in hand by July 1, 2023. Relevant post-doctoral training and prior experience in rehabilitation sciences or human musculoskeletal performance or human skeletal muscle function is expected. Applicants will demonstrate or show clear evidence of expertise through a program of research in rehabilitation sciences including the study of physical abnormalities, and the restoration and maintenance of physical function and mobility, with a focus on exercise and skeletal muscle health. Prior teaching experience as well as research in a clinical setting would be an asset.

The successful candidate will strategically fit within the School of Kinesiology and Health Science to help develop rehabilitative and preventive practices to support muscle performance in conjunction with our Muscle Health Research Centre, Biomechanists, the Motor Control Group, and Athletic Therapy Program. The successful candidate will also serve as a key faculty member for the creation of professional graduate education in rehabilitation sciences to complement the Faculty of Health’s commitment to professional based graduate programs.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in innovative externally funded research at the highest level, and teaching with a focus on curricular development and innovation in rehabilitation sciences. Other duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, graduate student supervision (Masters and/or PhD) and the development of an independent and externally funded program of research. Applicants must be eligible for appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Applicants must show excellence or promise of excellence in teaching, which will be demonstrated through the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations including in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning and teaching evaluations.
